Structure and Strategy of the Founding Group of the Families Voice Up Association

Who We Are:

    • Vision of the Association:
      To seek the identification, follow-up, and documentation of the fate of victims among detainees, the missing, and those forcibly disappeared, of all genders, as a result of the Syrian crisis by all parties to the conflict, whether direct or indirect, with the goal of uncovering the truth as a step towards achieving justice in accordance with international conventions and norms.
    • Mission of the Association:
      The Association’s mission is to collaborate and engage with all stakeholders and supporting entities, empower and support victims, survivors, and their families, collect and document data, and take actions centered around finding just solutions for victims and their families in line with international conventions and norms.
    • Values of the Association:
      The Association is formed by families of detainees, the missing, and those forcibly disappeared, who advocate for their rights as a result of the Syrian crisis by all parties to the conflict, whether direct or indirect. Its members adhere to the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, global solidarity, and collective action in defense of victims and their families. They emphasize the universality and indivisibility of rights, as well as the right to safety, privacy, independence, transparency, integrity, non-discrimination, and impartiality.

Administrative Structure

Responsibilities and Roles:

General Coordinator / Amneh Al-Khaleel:

    • Develop and implement strategies to support the vision of the Association, setting goals and priorities for growth.
    • Oversee activities to ensure efficiency and coordinate meetings of the founding committee.
    • Represent the Association at major events and strengthen the network of stakeholders and contributors.
    • Monitor budgets and revenues while fostering collaboration with similar associations to ensure mutual support.

Secretary / Doaa:

    • Manage logistical preparations for the founding committee’s meetings and ensure efficient session organization.
    • Prepare and document meeting minutes, recording key points and decisions.
    • Represent the General Coordinator in their absence, ensuring continuity of direction.

Internal Relations Officer / Manal:

    • Develop clear communication with members to ensure they understand the activities of the founding committee.
    • Organize internal workshops and events to strengthen bonds between members.
    • Encourage member participation in decision-making through surveys or subcommittees.

Public Relations Officer / Rabaa:

    • Build strong networks with media, donors, official institutions, and civil society organizations.
    • Represent the Association in meetings and workshops, liaising with media for interviews and event coverage.
    • Coordinate the Association’s media presence on social platforms.
    • Organize activities and events, collaborating with partners to ensure smooth execution.
    • Develop awareness campaigns to promote the Association’s mission.
    • Handle media crises and prepare response plans.
    • Prepare periodic reports on media impact and offer recommendations to enhance the Association’s public image.

Financial Officer / Amneh Harba:

    • Supervise the management of expenditures for the founding group and monitor financial commitments.
    • Prepare comprehensive financial reports on revenues and expenditures to ensure transparency.
    • Coordinate with funders to organize payments and ensure financial sustainability.

Data Collection Officer / Kafa:

    • Coordinate and manage the data collection project, ensuring its progress.
    • Supervise data collectors and submit regular reports to the founding group.
    • Safely and systematically store project-related data and information.
    • Track and document the use of data pertaining to the Association’s members to ensure privacy and alignment with objectives.
