As part of the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign, Nophotozone implemented a digital awareness campaign to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and to highlight the gendered impact of detention, enforced disappearance, and prolonged uncertainty on women and families.
The campaign featured a dedicated storytelling series centered on the experience of the mother of detainee Ahmad Baqdounis. Through nine video testimonies, she shared her personal journey throughout her son’s detention, shedding light on the emotional, social, and economic challenges she endured while searching for information about his fate.
The series also documented various forms of exploitation and abuse that she faced during her search, illustrating the vulnerabilities experienced by many women whose loved ones are detained or missing. By amplifying her story, the campaign sought to draw attention to the often-overlooked consequences of detention and enforced disappearance on mothers and female family members.
Through awareness posts and the publication of the nine-video series across social media platforms, the campaign connected the themes of the 16 Days of Activism with the lived experiences of women enduring ambiguous loss, prolonged suffering, and the ongoing struggle for truth and justice.
